About Sri Aathma Chaitanya Maharaj

Shri La Shri Aathma Chaitanya Maharaj ji was born to Shri.Rajan Gandaru in Colachal village, Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu. His childhood name was Mohan Lal Aji kumar. From his childhood Sri Athma Chaitanya grew up by listening to “spiritual lectures”. He got “Spritual Deeksha” from Sri La Sri Mathuranantha ji Maharaj who hail from Kasi (Varanasi) at the age of 12 years. At the age of 16 he came back to Thiruvannamalai, in Tamil Nadu known as “Agni Sthalam” (the temple represents FIRE amongst five basic elements called Pancha Boodh) in the scriptures and where Maharishi Ramana attained oneness with God. At Thiruvannamalai Athma Chaitanya met Sathguru Valai Siddha and he was blessed by him. Continuously he met several Yogis.

After becoming the Principal disciple of Shri Yogi Chaitanya, he received “Manthra Deeksha” (Mantra initiation) and got “Saaktha Upadesha”(Knowledge about Devi in Hinduism). He learned and mastered “Atharvana Veda” in a very short period.Sri Athma Chaitanya had the blessings and Dharshan of Sri Maha Prathayngira Devi who is the goddess of Atharvana Veda with the aid of his Guru Yogi Chaitanya and till date Athma Chaitanya continues to meditate and worship Sri Maha Prathayangira Devi and another form by name Sri Rajamathangi. It is pertinent to note here that Sri Meenakshi Amman at Madurai is another form of Sri Rajamathangi. One fine morning, Sathguru Yogi Chaithanya attained “Jeeva Samadhi” (An act where the soul leaves the body at the will of the person concerned, at the time and place decided by that person and where the soul remains in its invisible form, capable of re-entering any human body or a thing, at any place at the will of the soul - in other words defeating the death).

At the time of attaining Jeeva Samadhi, Shri Yogi Chaitanya invited the young Athma Chaitanya who was then known as Bala Sanyasi, ordained him by the name of Athma Chaitanya and made him the head of the Mutt. Before attaining Jeeva Samadhi, Guru Yogi Chaitanya had bestowed the responsibility to propagate the worship of Sri Prathayngira Devi and Sri Rajamathangi in the southern peninsula more particularly near shore lines of Tamil Nadu.

Sri Athma Chaitanya took the order of his Guru as his life’s mission and left the administration of the Mutt to the next senior most Sanyasi and entered into the life of a Pari Vrajaga (A wandering Yogi who is to travel only by walking, without the aid of any other travel support and he is not supposed to sleep at the same place for two consecutive nights) and carried the ideal of his life throughout the country for 3.5years.  He came to Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu and he sat on deep meditation for a longer spell inside the “Mamarathu Gugai” (Cave of Mango Tree) where Maharishi Ramana meditated.

While meditating there, he got the blessings from Lord Annamalai (Lord Shiva in the form of Agni i.e. Fire) and he felt that his Karma Bhoomi (Place where he must work) is Tamil nadu and set up his first Ashram at Tuticorin in Tamil nadu. Then he established an Ashram and a Shrine for Sri Prathyangira Devi at Nadu Nalu Moolai Kinaru Village which is four kilometres away from Tiruchendur which a pilgrim centre for Lord Muruga in the name of Sri Subrmanya Swami in the main road towards Nagercoil from Tiruchendur.

Sri La Sri Saktha Sri Athma Chaitanya Maharaj is a complete Athanrvana Vedi and one of the very few persons who has mastered Atharvana Veda and excels in all the five aspects of the said Veda viz., Manthra, Yanthra, Thanthra, Jyothisham and Aushadham.

SRIVIDHYA

Śrī Vidyā - also spelled "Shri" or "Shree" Vidyaa is the Highest form of  "knowledge, learning, lore, science", is a Hindu Tantric religious system devoted to the Goddess as Lalitā Tripurasundarī ("Beautiful Goddess of the Three Cities"), Bhuvaneśvari etc.

In the Śhakta theology of Śrī Vidyā the goddess is supreme, transcending the cosmos that is her manifestation. She is worshiped in the form of a mystical diagram (Sanskrit: yantra), a central focus and ritual object composed of nine intersecting triangles, called the Śri Yantra or Mahameru.

REFERENCE :

Brahmanda Vedam which is part of Atharvana Veda was given by  Lord Shiva to Parashakti who in turn gave  to Sanakathi Munis who gave to Baghwan Dattatreya ( One form of Lord Vishnu). It contains 1.80 Lakh Slokas. Baghwan Dattatreya condensed it to Datta Samhita-Tripura Upasana containing 18,000 Slokas. Baghwan Dattatreya gave it to Lord Parashurama who in turn gave it to his disciple Rishi Sumedas. Sumedas brought it to this world as a conversation between Lord Parasurama and Lord Ram in Tretha Yuga in the name of Parashurama Kalpa Sutra.

It was restored by AdiSankara in the name of Lalita Sahasranama for which commentary was given by Shri Baskararaya. Baskararaya’s disciple Shri Umananda Nathar in 1775 CE, compiled the available slokas in an order and made it in the form of worship (upasana). His disciple Shri Rameshwara Sastry gave a new commentary to Srividya under the title of Sowbhagya Suthothayam.

Shri Baskararaya had given another commentary for Shri Vidya in the name of Nithya Shodasi Garnavam. This commentary is known as Vamakeswara Thantra or Sethubandam. The present day worship forms in all the temples which is known as Agamas are taken from Sethubandam.

Sripura Rahasyam or Varivasya Rahasyam is also a commentary of Baskararaya, which deals with the secrecy of Sripuram or SriVidya.

Both the Sethubandam and the Varivasya Rahasyam have come to be known as 2 eyes of Srividya.

Kavya Kanda Ganpathi who is a disciple of Baghwan Ramana Maharishi brought it in tamil in the name of Dasamaha Vidya. It has been published as Sutras.

Our Mutt is inculcating this tradition of Srividya as given in Markendeya Puranam, Brahmandapuranam, Ahamarahasyam, Samhitayamalam, Ayirnavarnam, ShriTantra as the mutt has been founded by Angirasamaharishi and Pratyangira Maharishi who compiled Atharvana Veda for this universe.

Swamiji went back to Kasi (Varanasi), on the invitation of SHRI YOGI MOUNA GURU AVATHUTHA who was from North India. In Kasi, he met his spiritual Guru Shri Yogi Chaitanya, who was the Head of the 700-year-old Chaitanya Peedam which is located near Hanuman Ghat in Varanasi. Chaitanya Peedam was originally founded at Kamakya (Presently known as Guwahati, Assam. It is the place where the “Yoni Peedam” of Mahasakthi Parvathy is situated. It is an important Peedam amongst the 108 Shakti Peedams in India.) by Angirasa Maharishi and Prathyangirasa Maharishi. Chaitanya Peedam was headed by illustrated Rishis like Gandoba Maharishi, Mandiramoorthy Gandaru, Velandi Asan, Sappani Gandaru and at some point of time was shifted to Kasi (Varanasi). The fourth veda which is the “Atharvana Veda” is said to be compiled in this place by Maharishi Angirasa and Maharishi Prathyangirasa and hence has come to be known as Atharvana Peedam.

After meeting Yogi Chaitanya Maharaj ji, Sri Athma Chaitanya felt that he is destined to become his follower and became his disciple.
